Stem Checker (“we”, “us”) is a macOS application that helps you verify audio stems quickly. We take privacy seriously and collect only the information needed to run the app, manage your account, and improve the product.

1. Audio Processing

All audio processing happens locally on your device. When you load audio files into Stem Checker, they are analysed directly on your Mac using Apple’s audio frameworks (e.g., Core Audio and Accelerate). We do not upload your audio files to our servers.

Stem Checker may create temporary local cache files during processing (e.g. format conversion for playback). These files remain on your device and are cleared automatically when you start a new session or close the app.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information: your email address (used to create and secure your account, sign in, verify email, and reset your password).
  • Identifiers: account and subscription identifiers (e.g. a user ID used by our authentication and subscription systems).
  • Coarse location: country/region derived from device settings (not precise GPS) to understand regional usage and improve the product.
  • Usage data: product interaction events (e.g. app launches and feature usage) to evaluate performance and guide future improvements.
  • Diagnostics: crash reports and performance metrics to keep the app stable and improve reliability.

We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, browsing history, or the contents of your audio files.

3. How We Use Information

  • App functionality: to authenticate you, manage your account, provide subscription access, prevent fraud, and maintain service reliability.
  • Analytics: to understand how features are used, measure audience size and characteristics (at a coarse level), and prioritise product improvements.
  • Diagnostics: to monitor crashes and performance issues and improve stability.

4. Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party providers to operate the app:

  • Authentication & database: used to create and manage your Stem Checker account.
  • Subscriptions: purchases are handled by Apple In-App Purchases. We use a subscription provider to validate and manage entitlements (we do not receive your payment details).
  • Analytics & diagnostics: used to collect product interaction events and crash/performance information.

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with third parties for advertising purposes.

5. Tracking & Advertising

Stem Checker does not display ads and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites. We do not use advertising identifiers (such as IDFA) for tracking.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

You can request deletion of your account and associated account data from within the app. Once deleted, your account data is removed from our systems subject to any legal or compliance obligations.

Local audio files and any temporary processing files remain on your device and are not uploaded to our servers.
